    WM's Training Log

I like to keep thoughts on what I'm doing, and accept feedback along the way. A training log seems reasonable but I don't see many of them floating around.

In the next post I'll do a little "What am I training for?" which will be a link to my little intro thread. From there I'm put things in as I go. If you have any thoughts, please feel free, I like to interact.

Though I enjoy learning proper boxing anyways, I am joining in on our facilities "Fight Night", which gets me out the door even when the newness of this activity wears off.

Some general goals I'm going to keep in front of me. This is copied from an earlier post but I think I'll put it here as well.

My trainer/coach and I met to go over what I really want out of doing Fight Night. Below are what I am going to give him and go over.

        Fight Night Things
        Box, don’t fight
Be able to box into the 3rd round
        -Conditioning
        -Automatic mechanics
Identify base skills (footwork, combinations, and defense)
-I will also work on these away from the facility.
-Would like to find videos demonstrating what we are working on so I can reinforce on my own
Want to make it difficult to identify an opponent for Fight Night
Want to do Fight Night at my sustainable bodyfat %, which should be me at a weight of around 200 lbs

        My Commitment
        Do the program's minimum workouts
Five boxing related sessions on my own
        -Bag work
        -Mitts
        -Shadowboxing
        -Defensive movements
        -Footwork
Additional conditioning as body can handle

Good, but not great, workout today. When jumping into a fitness class it's difficult for me (at this time) to keep good form. The class instructor isn't making me go so fast I lose it, but trying to keep up with the flow gets me ahead of myself. I need to keep reminding myself to slow down and do it right while pushing my fitness and speed.

After the class, myself and another guy worked on jabs and parries in the ring.

A few weeks ago I bought a six pack of hand wraps, and a mesh bag to put them into for washing. I had bought one set at the gym I go to but could never find the right time to wash them, and figured it would be much easier to have multiple ones.

The first batch is in the washer now. Hopefully, I have no ruined them.

The punch mitts that are most used at my facility are Ringside Super Guard. That will be my over/under when looking for a set.

I went back for another session today. Nothing more than shadowboxing and form work on the heavy bag. I didn't go 100%, maybe 75%, but I did it right. I want to have my body know what GOOD feels like.

You can chronicle your workouts at home, not here. Excel or Word should suffice. This is a forum for discussion, not record keeping of your old man workouts. Furthermore, spamming is against the rules.

That's actually not a bad feature to add on the forums, a way where you can chronicle your training.
