first of all this is a spar, you should not feel like this is a fight and if it feel that way (coach or partner coaxing you) then explain 'hey we not sparring here'

Its about learning, working out your flaws, seeing what works what doesnt

How big are you? how many guys are at this gym? i struggle to see how your gym can not have anybody remotely close to your weight. I weigh 160 (fighting weight) and spar everything from LHWs (175) right down to 152 guys

Dont worry about the fitness thing, its something like for every 3 week it takes you to gain you loose it in 1 week

You see I had posted here a while back a video of me on the heavy bag, I was doing good back then, but I also mentioned the lack of sparring partners we had at my gym. The coach wouldn't let me spar with anyone, he said he was waiting to get a sparring partner in my weight division, ok let's wait then. 4 months go by and no sparring partner, so the coach let me spar with one of the more experienced guys there at the gym who outweighed me by 40 lbs. It went well the guy took it easy, I took it easy, I saw my mistakes and wanted to fix them, but the guy doesn't show up no more and I'm left another month without a sparring partner. So I kind of got bored really, I was training hard, and I mean hard, heavy bag, double end bag, running every morning, everything on point. But still no sparring partner, no one to hone my skills with, I felt like I was just standing still(as far as progress goes) so I got bored and took a break, i was loosing the desire to fight, I even considered quitting or switching gyms, well It's been 3 weeks and a half so I decided to go see what's up at the gym, when i go in I talk to my coach and he said look that's one of the guys who use to come before, he's fought already been 5 years in boxing, took a long break but is trying to make his come back into amateur boxing, he's been coming for 2 weeks and is looking to spar, you should spar with him talk to him (the guy is 20 lbs heavier than me). Well I talked to the guy and the coach told us to spar on Friday (tomorrow) this was Wednesday (yesterday) and I told him alright just let me try and get back in shape. So I did my rounds yesterday like I use to (shadow box, rope, heavy bag, speed bag, work out) and I did Terrible, i mean my form was still kind of good, and I mean kind of, but my stamina was BAD, and I know the coach saw that. Well I told him "I don't know if ima be ready for Friday I might just talk to the guy and tell him to Give me a whole week to get back in shape" coach said don't worry just keep working, or talk to him and come to an agreement with him. Ok so I was going to tell the guy to give me till next Friday. Today that I went to the gym I did Much much better, my stamina still failed me towards the end, but it was ok. So I told my coach i was going to tell the guy to wait till next Friday and he said ok, but don't worry your looking better you will be ready for tomorrow, and as I was leaving the gym he said come tomorrow at 6 (which is when we agreed to spar) and I left.

Now I know I'm not ready for a spar, I mean I will do good form defense and offense wise, at least for the first round, but I know my stamina is going to fail me. I want that week, but why is my coach pushing so much? I see he has interest in the new old guy, but I mean he didn't even let me spar with a guy who was 10 lbs heavier. I know for a fact I could just ask for a week, and I'll get it I mean I'm no punk, I'll spar and I know I'll be good, but I don't like the fact of the way things look, I'm trying to go far in the boxing game but I don't want to keep going to a gym were my coach isn't in on my best interest, but I also could be over analysing things, I don't know.
What do you guys think? Any help here?
      Grow a pair....
      Simple as
I could give you a big long thing but it boils down to get a pair of balls and just spar instead of pu$$y footing around

That's what i said, is a spar, but the guy I sparred with took it too serious, busted my lip up in the first round, I was taking it easy though I went ahead and acted serious in the second round and he stopped his dancing around the ring and his Muhammad Ali choreography, I connected my hits and I hurt him, he looked puzzled, but I couldn't keep my pace.
Alright alright is cool, I'm quitting my gym, the coach is no good for me, I lost all my respect towards him.
I told the guy we would spar next week still, and ima train 3 times as hard and go bust his ass up, show him to back tf up.

For the record I weight 112 pounds and I'm 5'0 in height. Not many people in my weight division. At least not at this gym

That comment is why you will never be a good boxer!!!

I don't even know or have to see you box to say that.

God help us,you wanted a spar,he gave you a spar and now your crying about a bust lip.

          Don't be thinking "if I don't hit him hard,he won't hit me hard" that's ******.

I just done 8 rounds tonight against all different shapes, sizes and experience levels. I didn't "plan it". I smoke and don't even train or fight anymore, but I got in their and only took one solid left hand from a southpaw through the whole thing, am I gonna complain about that?no!
Am I gonna look for "revenge" no!
Do I think their bad people because I wanted to spar and they wanted to spar (to punch each other in the face btw) no!

So stop being a b!tch basically.

We're you forced into the ring? No,
Did you want a spar, yes
Did you agree to spar, yes

Your better off leaving that gym, so the coach can concentrate on the lads who actually want to fight not "prepare" for a week to spar

Your point is ? I'm talking about a guy who was trying to boost his ego.
We both agreed on light sparring and he wants to go all out, when i told him before hand i wouldnt be able to spar right. So he went ahead and took advantage, now I'm going to take advantage too in the next sparring sesh.

And you clearly don't know boxing your fine with a coach trying to send you to spar when you are clearly not ready, this is how injuries are caused.

Not cuz I'm a *****, believe me if I was in shape my question would be where can I find a sparring partner.

Don't let it phase you, you can't win every round even when you spar, and you only get better by fighting decent opposition

Like Stephenmc says, this is boxing, you can't 'play' boxing. Every person that steps in that ring, headgear gum shield or nothing at all, you are gonna get punched in the head at some point
