    Just started boxing (Kickboxing background)

So today was my 5th day in a boxing class, I put on 20 ounce gloves and this guy was not allowed to hit me I just had to try to hit him and I missed almost every punch, the only time I got him was in the body.. He has been boxing for long time and is good but is this normal? I used to kickbox alot and I am not used to the stance and the head movement.. I feel like I got completely outclassed here lol

Not sure how long you kickboxed but yeah quite normal. A traditional Muai Thai guard is different to a classic boxing guard so your punches were probably quite telegraphed. You will get there

Yes very normal, I have sparred people who have over 20kg on me who come to boxing from kickboxing. You them training and on the bags and think their animals at training, but then they fall apart in the ring.
      3 main reasons are
1: punches aren't thrown from the chin (they pull back for a punch) which make them easy to telegraph.
2: their footwork and stance are all over the place, so they have no balance when moving and throwing their punches.
3: they can't find the range are not used to working their way in.

First thing is first, get your boxing stance correct and settle on your feet.
Experience is a huge thing, don't be disheartened by sparring a lad like that, Its good for you, watch the way he has his feet and imitate it

I've sparred with kick boxers before, and yeah, your going to have to learn to move and learn how fight while moving.

Every kick boxer I've sparred with was completely lost, we constantly move in boxing which is pretty foreign for kick boxers.
