Any tips on using the pads with southpaws?
I just moved to a new gym and
Their is a couple of young lads I'm starting to train and their good, going for nationals next month, but I'm finding it a bit awkward to do my normal pad work with them.
I've boxed orthodox, and just about everyone I've trained have has been orthodox, so it's a bit complicated when working the pads ha is it just something I'll get used to after awhile.

If they were ****,I wouldn't really care, but to be fair their fairly good and have a great chance of winning the nationals

**** bro, when I used to box I used to switch fight so I just get in a southpaw stance when I use the pads, try doing it in southpaw stance and see how that works

Yes I train. I train 4 boys. 3 of which are mine another boy at our gym. The boys ages are 14, 13, 11, & 10. All orthodox. I also have a 2yo that will train once he turns 5 and he is my southpaw

Anyways feel free to pick my brain. Training kids especially teenage boys can be hard because they have awful attention spans and attitudes. lol!

How much do you get paid as a trainer?

Trainer here. Holding mitts for SPs
Isn't any different as long as you don't think about it. Despite their stance, you still catch their right hand with yours, left with a left, etc. once you get comfortable with the movement and mechanics of an individual fighter, the order or punches sort of fades away and then you can start working on some southpaw specific stuff- jab-hook-cross while stepping to the right, parrying the jab with the lead hand and firing one back over the top, etc.

I charge 50/hr for 1 on 1 lessons 60/hr for small group privates up to 4 people split up between the group. I offer discounts to LEOs and guys who have a fight booked.
