I want to start boxing but have questions

Hi ive want to start boxing but something is kind of bugging. I know would be a Southpaw boxer because i am left handed and the stance feels natural for me. But, even tho i am left handed and am a Southpaw my strong hand is my right. Is that common? Would it be a benefit for me?

your jab hand ends up being the strongest because you use it more...oscar de la hoya is a natural southpaw but he fought conventional to keep his strong hand in front so he could score more KO's and hurt his opponents more often...it's not a bad strategy, if anything you could work on building your left hand up to your right hand power wise so you could have if not equal but close to the same power in both hands...KO power in both hands, how's that?

Why does it matter if it's common?

You want to start boxing, go to a gym.

Its not common but some boxers do that. Oscar and manny for example.

Don't make comparisons to fighters, your not a fighter.
Pick a stance that your comfortable in and affords you balance and pose.
Power hands and punches are developed with a trainer.
Balance within your movement are the important intangibles when picking a stance.
