    Benefits of Bcaas when boxing?

I see a lot of boxers use bcaas. What bcaas do and what benefits can they get from using it?

I took them years ago when they were becoming the "new thing" and never felt any benefit. After much research, I discovered that BCAAs are far less effective than advertisers would have you believe. The theory is that you don't have to break down the protein. But there's speculation that, not only do they not assimilate as effectively, but that free form aminos may even be damaging. Early studies used equal levels of whey and BCAA but whey contains only around 50% BCAA. In a study I saw that actually used equal amounts of amino acids (by doubling the whey volume) the BCAAs were ineffective while the whey bought about protein synthesis.

Consumers are becoming savvy to Whey supps that naturally contain high levels of BCAAs vs those which are spiked with free-form aminos. When I was bodybuilding I found that the leading competitors always went for whole foods and only added a little whey for supplementation, and rarely BCAAs (even though they advertise them). You won't see a lot of info about this because most fitness sites and publications are supported by advertisers that make mad money selling tubs of BCAAs for ridiculous prices.

So in your opinion its kinda like a waste of money. Anything that you can drink during a workout than can help you?

Yes, a waste. You can take things during your workout but what are you trying to fix?
I'm really into nutrition and supplementation but the #1 thing I've learned it to treat specific things, because just throwing stuff at the wall can do more harm than good.
        Where are your struggling?

            I'd make sure you had a small meal or a shake a couple hours before exercise, so there's nutrients in your system. Among things that give an extra boost;

            -Caffeine. Simple but effective.

-Beta Alanine. Increases muscular endurance. Very effective in boxing.

-Beet Root Extract (nitrates). Makes a good NO sub, increases strength and endurance a little. There's several brands, Dymatize Pursuit Rx pre-workout is one I use.

-Electrolytes. If you sweat a lot, for more than an hour, these may help keep you from getting dizzy and fatigued. Living in AZ and working out in hot gyms or in the garage, this is a must for me. I take Trace Mineral brand "Electrolyte Stamina" right after a hard workout, sometimes before. Electrolytes are very important is you are sweating a lot.

I would not take a lot of stuff while you workout. Your stomach shuts down to a great extent during intense exercise, so fluids are ok but you don't want anything heavy (like protein shakes) right before or during a workout.

Im interested in caffeine and beta alanine. Caffeine should be pills? If you can suggest me any brands for both

Caffeine can be anything. Animal Lab makes a cheap caffeine pill with a couple herbs in it. Tea. Low-acid coffee. Diet soda with caffeine even works.
I used to do half an energy drink before boxing but there's just too much garbage in those so i keep it more natural now.

Beta Alanine is cheap. I'd get the bulk powder. Don't get the ultra-cheap chinese stuff, as I recently bought a ton of that (not knowing what I was getting because it came from Chicago) and the potency is poor. Get a known brand, bulk Beta Alanine powder, without other junk in it. Start low to see if you get the "tingles". I used to never get them but I do lately. They're not bad. They even get me hyped to workout. You just don't want to be surprised by it the first time you take it. It tingle sensation mellows out after you get used to it.

Both those supps are great because there is no loading or daily regimen required. Just take them 1/2hr to 45min before a workout and you're golden.

doubt they will make any discernable difference to your performance whatsoever. Get yourself some bogstandard creatine monohydrate if you want a supplement to improve performance, can get near on a years supply for ?0

They just help build muscle. That is it.

Everyone should take biology in high school because 99% of the questions on here about nutrition and supplementation wouldn't need to be asked.
