Stress leading up to a fight.

Hello there, so I've been stressing out this whole fight weeks and its costing me alot of sleep. The fight is tonight and I want to make sure I have a good sleep tonight without stressing... I know I should be thinking more about the fight but I think sleep is important to :P. I've had to take sleeping pills for awhile now due to stress. Do you think after the fight all the stress will be gone? Does anyone have the same problem? My last fight I was able to sleep perfectly fine and now for this one I can't. Maybe because it's a bigger fight and my opponent is good.

Fear is good but only when YOU control it. Don't let it control you. Tell yourself "Ok this is good, fear is my friend" say it a million times if you have to. Even Jack Dempsey was scared, so was Tyson, so was SRR, and so was every great fighter you ever heard of. It is one thing to be scared of your opponent and it is another to be scared of losing.

Your opponent is just a man, he bleeds, hurts, and gets knocked out just like any other man. Don't worry about the decision, enforce your will and you WILL get the win. You have it all physically now you have to control yourself mentally.

    Is this professional or amateur?

It's a real issue. I don't compete because I get way too obsessed and it gets in the way of running my business.
My old jiu jitsu coach is a world-level competetitor and a mental coach and I highly recommend youtubing some of his vids. He gets into areas that you're dealing with and breaks down the psychology. Fear is often an irrational thing, fear of unknown, and can be dealt with. The same principles he gets into apply to boxing. His vids aren't polished but having worked with the guy, I can say he's as legit as they come.
