I hit his shoulder as he was rolling it, caused me to hyperextend my elbow
I been icing it, since friday but still have a nagging pain when i bend my arm. any advice?
Cool vid Pugilist. I missed your last 1 because I dont have FB :-/ anyways man, RICE=Rest Ice Compress Elevate. If its been more than 24hrs then ice wont really do you any good. I would just wrap it in an ace bandage then elevate it above your heart. If it persists of course go see a Dr. but its pretty common. Motrin will help with the pain.

thanks man!!!
to family dollar i go...figured the Ace bandage would be the best bet.

how does the elevation help?
Itll reduce the blood flow bro. Ice does the same but its best to use ice within 24hrs of the injury. I bet you have some swelling right now below the tricep between the elbow joint? In all reality its just going to reduce the swelling and make it more comfortable, your body will just have to heal on its own. Id say a week, bad thing is though you are kinda assed out of training for the week, unless you do a stationary bike or something.

Do you live nearby an elephant habitat? If there are no free ranging elephants within your vicinity, then head to a nearby zoo, walk up to the ass end of an elephant and shove your injured arm deep inside its **** pathway, let the doo-doo seep into your pores. Leave it in there for about 15 minutes, or until your arm goes numb. When you begin to feel numbness remove your arm and clean off the excess doo-doo. After treatment it is recommended that you head straight home, take two extra strength pain killers and call me in the morning.

oh ok....im gonna just work on my left hook, to the body and head, jab and uppercuts
the tendon area is tender but there is no swelling.
Im gonna bandage the right arm up......probably throw it softly just to work on combos, no heavy work with it

..............no elephants close.....do you have a more conventional alternative lol
All I want to say is that you got to learn your range. You are trying to stay out of your sparring partners range, which puts you out of your range, which causes you to reach too much, which causes you to hyper-extend everything.
You really need to learn to close that gap between you and him.
Its almost like your punch target is his gloves. Getting on your toes a little more would help too. Your are way too flat footed and put too much weight on your back leg.
This^. Note that the word REST comes first. I'm pretty lanky and like to work my range a lot so I inevitably get mild hyperextension every so often. For me, it always goes away pretty quick. Working LIGHT counter movements (movements that don't extend far and help pull everything back in place) seems to help. Hooks and uppercuts seem to make it worse. Don't even try to spar as missing is brutal on hyperextended limbs. Just short, straight punches that barely reach the end of extension or are stuffed short. Anyway, that's what's always worked for me.

It has forced me to work on my jab, left hook and other shots to the head and body. Work on other shots....my right hand is my money punch....it has been frustrating as all hell...I havent sparred in two weeks....I've done some touch work, mitt work, in ring shadow boxing, nothing major
i think it was a blessing in disguise
as you said, I only feel it when I miss a shot I extend on...been working on short straight shots, or overhands like tyson threw from the shoulder,
i feel a lot better about my left hook
on the contrary Im short so if my distance isnt right, i end up reaching. My jab is actually my best weapon to the head and body. it just feels so weird not being able to bring my right hand behind it like im used to but i have been hooking off the jab better.
