    skill gaining & improving time

    hi guys

I want to talk about the skill improving time

I start doing boxing at may that gym for 6 month , I learned few stuff but nothing

meaningful, then i met a Guy who's Olympic national team with 200+ fight and

he give me a lot personal training session "most of it mitt work sessions" and I

improved my punching technique a lot thanks to him

then finally I found a proper boxing gym the best in the country and i been with

them for almost 3 months now and been training 3-4 times A week

but I feel that jam not improving or Iam not improving at the rate i want

always when I pick something I can improve very fast at it, except boxing!

it look so simple but yet its very hard!

yesterday sparring session was so bad that made me think deeply about this .

I could not touch the guy I didn't throw a proper punch I didn't do anything right

and eat a lot of good punches, he is a new member to the gym but very good boxer

I love the sport a lot but i know I started late (27 years of age) and I work 10+

hours a day in a mind numbing office job ,

and yesterday I seriously felt like I'am doing

everything wrong and I didn't get benefit out of all this training and its like i just

wasted 1 year doing nothing! and why I'am doing this!

yesterday I felt really bad but today i'am just thinking of how to do it right next

I read & watch a lot about boxing I have more information than any another guy at

the gym yet in the ring I feel like very novice

how to improve in boxing in general ? sparring in specific??

Hello. There are people on here a lot more qualified to give you advice than me but thought I'd respond given I went through exactly the same thing last night!!

Sparring requires practice and lots of it. Mitt work / bag work is great for the technique but for me personally, it all went out the window when I started sparring. It was like I'd never done any of that training in the first place. It was demoralising...

But, I persevered through the pain and tried to gain some level of composure which is very slowly coming...But it's a very frustrating process that takes time and patience (for me anyway).

Last night I got the living shi** beaten out of me in sparring and honestly wondered what the hell I was doing in the gym...

But I'm going back tonight for more... Because I guess otherwise, you don't learn!

Don't give up. I think everyone struggles in sparring their first time. I hope this helps.

The most difficult in boxing training is starting sparring.

Most of the time, you can't see the punches coming and don't really know how to put your punches together.

Sparring beginners main difficulty is being able to keep it cool, staying calm and so being able to think.Usually, guys lose their control, are afraid of being punched in the face.

I have been able to reach that point(sparring and being calm) so I can talk about it, I won't be scared in front of a guy punching at me in a gym unless this guy is a Kovalev, GGG or a Thomas Hearns obviously cuz those guys might be able to kill me lol

So when you have that mental strenght, you can't start sparring with better guys and learn from them, even if sometimes sparring with pros I looked like a heavy bag but kept my head up and took it like a man lol.

If you want to improve your skills.
Work technically with other beginners or experienced fighters if they agree.

You do some sparring without punching for real let alone punching hard, that's the best way to learn without being disgusted while being punched in the face.

You punch below 40% of your power, same for the oother guy.

You will learn to control your power, control the distance, and move.

If they put you in front of some tough guys in real sparring, you will get punched in the face and won't get better.

You just needed a proper training related to your level.

Just play with some other beginners, just moving the head, jabbing, without hurting each others.

        best way to learn boxing.

Then when you will have sparring with real power, you will have learnt some reflexes.
