Best way to progress? beginner advice

    Hey guys,
I recently joined a boxing gym few months back , being going for the group sessions and find them alright. Just wanted to ask would getting a personal coach/trainer be the best way to progress and develop quickly as compared to a group class specially if you want to compete amateur?
or do you think you could progress to competing level via group classes

    thanks a lot

The best thing for you is, to have a trainer on the side. Continue with your group classes so you can get the social aspect of boxing and competitiveness of being around others but again you will need a trainer to work technique with you. A lot of people want Freddie Roach, Robert Garcia or Abel Sanchez to train them but in all reality, you could meet some guy in one of your classes and ask him if hed be willing to work with you. Head trainers of gyms and big names really dont have time to show you individualized attention, unless they see something special right off the bat. So again ask a buddy in the class that may have some experience and learn together; study videos (youtube) and ask questions (theres plenty of knowledgible guys on this forum), & trial and error between the 2 of you is always the best way to learn. Lastly fundamentals are key, master them, & work with what God gave you, dont try to be something you are not and do things naturally!

        that is sound advice.

quickest way to progress is through 1 on 1 training with your coach. If you have the money to pay for his time.
