Get it over the top of their lead hand.

Personally I'm not even trying to land my jab very often. The angle for landing the jab is best from for me is the inside angel. But if you can get an extreme outside angle you can come behind the left glove.

Barrera put on a clinic on how to land the jab when cross stanced against Hammed.

      It was ****ing beautiful.

That being said your jab IMHO is best used to set up the rest of your offense. That is why the double jab straight left is so effective. You aren't looking to land the jab. You are looking to take a dominate position while opening your opponents guard. The jab is supposed to be blocked. As you jab you are taking the outside angle and you are throwing your jab a little wide to pull the left glove.

Once the get used to it you can play games. Throw the hook instead of the left. Feint the first jab and throw the left. Lots of games can be played off the double jab straight left.
