So ive been in this boxing gym for like 5-6 sessions. I know how to throw jab. The one thing that is hard is the footwork for me and how to punch. When i punch the trainer says punch straight, and im punching straight as much as i can. We also learned how to do 1-2 with walking forward and backwards. We did that in like 10-15 min and my ankles hurt espesially my right leg is this normal? But i still dont get the 1-2 thing with walking. It just feels like im lost i dont know anything the other beginners is doing it perfectly and have their own style. And btw my trainer and myself noticed that im leaning forward when im standing in a stance and says that i should relax and just bend my knees and be upwards, but ive seen espesially mike tyson he is a little bit bend forward if you wanna use the pik a boo style. Can anyone explain the basics behind the footwork and how to literally throw a punch. When im looking at myself in the mirror and doing it looks wrong i dont know how. Should i rotate my hips when i punch with my right or the jab. It seems like im at a constant loop and dont know the basics. I really have the motivation and have the will of power to box, but i just wanna know the basics and continue im already 16 years old and yeah. But the technique is killing me and it just looks from when im punching and the footwork when im seeing others in a boxing fight. The right hook was very confusing to me i tough i did it right, but the trainer corrected me with the arm that you dont swing so much with the hook and you rotate the left leg right and your body aswell i think? IT just seems confusing to me and i wanna learn fast as possible. Can someone send a video of me of all these basics concept of boxing or explain for me in detail? becuse i really have the will to learn but im doing it wrong when i see the other people. And one other thing when you do i right hand swing are you supposed to stamp to the ground with your right leg or just rotate it? i just dont understand either way please help i have the will to learn but its just to hard im 16 years old male. about 60kg sorry for mycket bad english i just wrote out of my toughts

you seem to have real bad mobility. i'd say build a rapport with the trainer so he can help you rectify your deficiencies.
maybe buy him a coffee next time you come in, he'll be harder on you and that's exactly what you need because you can't throw straight punches.

If you just started, your body parts are going to take turns hurting as you go through various exercises. Expect it. Muscle hurt is good, tendon hurt isn't.
If you feel uncoordinated, slow it down. There's nothing in boxing that can't be done at 1/2 speed and if you can't do it at half speed, your're doing it wrong/unbalanced. Ask a coach to point out where you're going wrong and practice that at home. If your right is loopy, you might not be turning your hip or turning your arm over. If you need, post a phone vid to youtube and link it here. Seeing what's going on is far easier than having you describe it, esp when you're not sure what's wrong to begin with.

When it comes to punching straight, you might be flaring your elbows or something. To keep it straight, think like you're trying to slide your arm inside a pipe or a cylinder not too much wider than your own arm. You wouldn't be able to slide it in with your elbows flared out.
As far as the footwork goes, it sounds like he's having you do a common drill in which (obviously) you throw the jab and the cross rhythmically while you walk forward and back. So start by tapping your feet in place to start getting a rhythm going. Now, every time your left foot hits the ground, your jab is fully extended. Every time your right foot hits the ground your cross is fully extended. What you're doing is trying to build neural connection between your hands and your feet.

Listen to your coach and keep at it... you will get better. Doing things half-time is good advice, also concentrate on your footwork and your legs/hips at this point - build from the ground up - the rest will follow
