    Bruised nose?

I sparred tonight, and it actually went really well. I felt really light on my feet and calm and confident, and I could see the difference in the way my partner was reacting. I stayed in for longer than I should have and swapped partners a few times and took a lot of good hits, specifically to the face.

Usually after a hard sparring session I have a bit of soreness (as I expect most would), however it's been a few hours and my nose still hurts and it's starting to bruise. It definitely doesn't seem broken but another thing is I can barely breath through it, has anyone dealt with this before?

Anything I should do? Besides icing it?

Can you pinch the bridge of your nose without a big pain (not touching a bruise pain) ?

    Any blood?

I can pinch the bridge but it's not exactly pain free. It hurts a little but not too bad. My nose has never bled in my life

welcome to boxing..... give it a few days rest from any contact and see how/if it mends up. If you are deeply troubled by such occurances you may want to take up golf instead. Also, you may want to coat your nostril with some baby oil to keep the scab moist so that if it is removed, from blowing your nose or whatever, it will reduce or eliminate more bleeding.

No blood? I guess that's a good sign

Not troubled at all, just unfamiliar with nasal trauma. Thanks for the baby oil suggestion.

It's not broken my dude, I just wouldn't spar until it's pain free. I dare say it's happened to everyone. It's part of boxing, this is why some use the steel bar headgear to prevent such injuries.

I believe your trainer would notice if it had been broken, it's not exactly something that may go unnoticed.
