    Knockdowns in sparring?

How common are knockdown in sparring? I only ask because today for the first time ever in sparring, I knock down an opponent with a perfect counter left hook. First time I've ever scored a legit knockdown, with headgear and 14oz gloves, both roughly the same weight (bantamweigh/featherweight)

for me personally, its super rare...
maybe coz im 125 and all my friends are 150+
but i did KO my friend with a body shot with 16oz gloves, but he was only 130lbs.
but damn, i want to get a headshot knockdown in sparring, must feel good D: ~

It happens occasionally especially if the session is "opened" to prepare for a coming fight. Most times power is gauged so that two men can get their work in without getting hurt.
A mistake in balance or an opening is taken advantage can get you dropped!
I've probably seen more body shot dropping in the gym than head or chin shots.
Many times a fighter getting into shape can catch a good shot and get hurt, the body shots will tell you where your at conditioning wise.

          I'm a 126lb'r.

I've had 4-5 knockdowns, but I almost exclusively spar with guys 140+. Only 2 were from headshots. One was a perfect counter-hook and the other one the guy walked right into my straight. Otherwise I've had much better luck with body shots.

Sometimes it happens. I've never been knocked down or knocked anyone else down. Usually when a fighter gets hurt during sparring I'll give them as long as they need to breathe and let them decide whether they want to continue or not. However, I have witnessed one of our female fighters get caught on the chin and get knocked out. It's not something you should aim for in sparring but accidents happen, it's a full contact sport.

Yeah I agree, sparring is for learning. Knockdowns I've seen have mainly
              Been "accidental" rather than malicious

Wow Exactly The Same As Me

I did the exact same when i threw my jab, left hook combo. As heslipped my jab i threw a hook and apparently he had the same thing in mind. My form was better at the moment of impact and i snapped as he tried to push through me so he landed on his back.
I owe it all to my invention. Look at it.
