The place of supplements in boxing is not very different from the place of supplements in weight lifting. Protein shakes don't give you extra boosts by themselves. It doesn't matter if you're talking about boxing or weight lifting. The only reason they would give you an extra boost, is because you do not have enough protein in your diet. There is no point in supplementing something you already have enough of. That rule doesn't change whether it's vitamins, protein, carbs, fats whatever... My advice would be to locate gaps in your intake and supplement on those fronts.
Pwo's can get you amped up i guess, but personally I have reservations about taking them as all the ones that actually work always seem to have something in them which is illegal. I've never needed them.
About the fats and protein story: It's not true that fats contain natural steroids... It is true you should get plenty of fats in your diet and that 1 of the reasons for this is that it supports your own hormone production. That however does not mean fats contain actual 'natural steroids' lol. Just like with protein: once you've received enough fats there is no reason to take more as it will not have any positive effects on your hormone production.
