    Heavyweight boxing as a teen

Alright so im 17 5ft8 220 pounds and have a stocky build and my bodyfat percentage is around 30% give or take a percent. And i wanted to fight in the heavyweight division and i was wondering what would be the best thing to do for exercise? Do i cut and slim down 30 pounds or do i bulk and weight lift for a few months then do it? Im not exactly sure where to start. Finding a gym isn't the issue as i already have been at one for awhile just now starting to take it serious as i really do enjoy the sport. Its just i don't know how to train for this division as its basically 80 kilos+ So after 80 kilos it doesn't matter what weight you come in at. Really at a slump at the moment so any advice would help a lot.

You're not a heavyweight dog, let it go. By it I mean your weight.

There's no way you're going to be competetive at heavyweight at that height, and fat percentage. You need to lose weight until you're lean and see what weight class you fall into. Then you can consider moving up in weight classes by gaining muscle if you're good enough.

Stop weighing in! Train until your in great shape and learn how to box!
If you don't have a boxing trainer find one, no mma gyms find a "real boxing gym"!
You don't pick your weight class, you train hard, bust your butt, get into great condition then weigh yourself! Whatever the scale reads that's your weight class!!

You actually can be competitive at that weight because there isn't a lot of heavyweights, especially good ones in the amateur system.

And your trainer should have a good idea of who to keep you away from until you hit open tournaments.

But if you wanted to do this long term, you'll have to go to a much lower weight, since your just starting, burning 20 lbs should happen pretty quickly. Don't worry about bulking or cutting, just eat healthy for now.

As a beginner a lot of that weight will take care of itself.
