Sparring partners that go heavy until they realise you can hit much harder.......

..... then go light, or "go get a drink for 15 minutes" and THEN go and beat up on a weaker / less experienced/ younger fighter.

So they will go hard if they know the other guy cant punch due to lack of technique or is just weaker but as soon as they get to someone better than they are they wimp out.

WTF, I dont get it why would you get an ego boost out of that when you know you are a coward?

Also what do you think is the just thing to do to a prick like this?

Also how do you handle sparring?

Like you get guys that get emotional ie they walk into a jab nose first then loose their rag and start coming at you full blast, others just go hard all the time as if every sparring match was a real fight, some are so competative / *****y it ALWAYS esculates from light sparring to a full fight. Some guys are cool.

How do you navigate sparring, I hate not knowing WTF im going in for I almost wish it was an all out fight because at least you know where you stand.

    meh. my gym's disciplined...
we spar light/work on technique... every now and then we might get carried away, but the instructor would remind us and its all good.

there's only one time where a way more exprienced guy sparred iwth me and hit hard, i ask him to hit lighter, he forgets and hits hard again... happens a lot, so i hit him back hard and he stopped hitting hard after lol.

communicate with them i guess. if that doesnt work, dont spar them. or if ur better, "force them" to go light ._.?

I find guys that do this are usually newer guys. It seems they want to know what its like to hit someone and they want to see what kind of heat they pack imo.

You have to hit them with something stiff just to keep them off you and usually it doesn't take much more than a couple of stiff jabs.

I don't think ive ever had to really nail someone to keep them off of me and when I have had to its been against people who throw back.

I just keep my defense tight, speed knot people and let them set the pace. If they want to start throwing hard then I will start sitting on my punches a little more.

Fight back, its boxing. Where else do you get to punch out bullies and not get sued. If they keep ruining training, tell your trainer. If he doesn't give a ****, find a new gym.

I feel you. I like to spar lightly and work on weaknesses and have shared the ring with guys who try to show off until they find out you can not only sting but walk through their best shots or run from someone that outclasses them. I always just assumed they lack heart/will.

As what to do with them? Nothing. They'll slowly fade into the irrelevance due to their lack of healthy competition needed to improve.

Not quite experienced that, but when I used to spar at my MMA gym there were some guys that hit like trucks! Most of them didn't realise how hard they were hitting until someone either threw them a haymaker or almost hit the floor. Some of the younger (teens) yet more experienced lads would hit pretty hard as well which is understandable. Use to love working my defence with one guy because his technique was amazing! Really had me one my toes knowing how hard he could hit.

Me and a good friend used to get really carried away when sparring. Start of light and the minute one of us landed something decent it just turned into a brawl. I always enjoyed it because he's a short, stocky inside fighter and I'm more of a counter puncher. Used to beat the living hell out of each other. Even ended up in hospital one time when I broke his nose and I caught a loose thumb (rookie error) on his chin... What are friends for?

A guy who's now fighting for Bellator used to train there as well, before he went pro. I remember when I was still finding my feet with combat sports and I sparred against him. He was hitting me lightly, helping me work defence and it still hurt to high hell! Like more than some of the other guys hitting hard! Absolute machine!
