    Push Through Injury

I've been dealing with a wrist injury for about 2 months now and am supposed to have an MRI done on my wrist and probably followed up with surgery as Dr believes I have a torn ligament or a detached ligament in my wrist. However, I won't be able to get my MRI done for about another month or so and Gold Gloves is in about a month. Should I try to push through the injury and compete in Gold Gloves then worry about the MRI afterward the tournament or should I forgo the tournament and get my wrist examined and healed 100% (right now I'd say I feel about 80%) before I get into the ring?

go watch a couple of movies at the theatre on the night that the golden gloves are held. you won't be in shape anyway training with a hurt limb.

it's highly advisable to come to a random forum of people that you don't know, posing your question/dilemma, and hoping to get an answer that you fancy better than your doctors................ Rockin'

if you value this amateur boxing tournament over your longterm health, then push through it. that's me being sarcastic. unless you're a world class boxer getting paid a ton of money and fighting in a big time fight, it's surely not worth it.

you can't go to the wrist store and get another one. can you imagine how much it would suck to have permanent wrist damage? you need your hands for virtually everything you'll do in your adult life. you're not going to be a young man fighting amateur forever.

do what your doctor says. stop boxing, and get the images taken to figure out whether or not you need surgery.

Is there any reason not to think you could win the damn thing with one hand?

dont be silly, boxing is about your long term health...would you rather fight now and possibly risk losing the chance to fight in the future? or rest for now, recover and fight at many other tournaments?
