    Fight in Running Shoes

Any of you guys prefer to train/spar/fight in running shoes instead of boxing shoes? I've got wide feet and boxing shoes are kind of uncomfortable and i just flat out find it easier to move around in running shoes.

    What do you guys think?

If I am actually in the ring, I wear my boxing shoes.
Any other time, though, I usually wear low profile, light weight pumas.
More comfortable, easier to get on and off, etc.

Picking your foot wear should have alot to do with your ankle and foot conditions. Also a certain styled shoe can benefit how you move!! Leather souls are a world of difference from rubber if your up on your toes ala Ali you'll have the old Everlast leather souls on. A stepper woulddo better with the "grooved" bottoms! Just like any other peice of equipment it needs to fit your individual needs! Ray.

I move way better in boxing shoes in the ring. Don't see the benefit it competing in anything other than boxing shoes.

Running shoes feel totally wrong when i tried it once or twice in the ring. I need flat shoes like a pair of boxing shoes or balance and footwork becomes a lot different.

Running shoes are shaped sloping upward from your toes which will mean that your balance when moving and throwing punches (pivot) will be messed up.
I personally only use running shoes when I'm just holding mitts for someone, never when i glove up.

With that being said, boxing shoes are also lighter (most boxing shoes) than running shoes, which means footwork +1

Boxing shoes are for boxing, running shoes are for running, that's my opinion

                  Hi Fballguy,
I will also advice you to avoid boxing shoes over train/spar/fight in running shoes. You may find boxing shoes for your wide feet!

                    Usyk too.

I prefer boxing boots but it took me a while to get used to them since they were narrow
