    Is breaking anything still possible...?

    When one uses wraps?

Had an argument with a kid at the gym, he claimed that breaking anything is impossible if you wrap your hands. I told him it happens all the time, and basically called him an idiot.

I'm not the idiot on this, right?

In the second Mario 'Azabache' Martinez vs Azumah Nelson fight, Martinez was stopped in the 12th round. He had broken his right hand so badly that, according to the boxing ****zines at the time, there was bone protruding. Boxing history is filled with guys that hurt hands during fights- and, in the old days, they wrapped the hell out of their hands (though using smaller gloves.)

Yeah, gatti vs ward (III I think) comes to mind, not to mention all the cases of a 'boxers fracture', and countless guys with hand problems.

I have no problem with saying wrapping reduces the risk, but this guy was adament with it being impossible.

Genaro Hernandez and Jeff Fenech were two guys that had bad problems with their hands, because of they way they were built. Real prominent knuckles. In the case of Hernandez, at 5' 11" and 126 pounds (and he made it easy), he was small boned. He also hit real hard and his hands couldn't take it.

How dumb does one have to be not to know you can break your hands even if they are wrapped.

I broke my hand twice when I boxed.
