    Please Evaluate My Sparring Session

Ok so i just picked up boxing about a month ago. I've had 5 one hr sessions with my trainer and just had my first sparring session yesterday. Please leave some constructive criticism as I'm sure there is plenty I did wrong. Also, if there is anything in my game that looked decent that would be nice to know too. I'm 5'8" 163lbs, my sparring partner is about 6'0" 200lbs. I'm in the white head gear blue gloves.

You really need a more game sparring partner, your partner look really damn new.

You need to have your hands up higher, your fists about eye level I have no idea why your hands were so low and you square up a lot especially after throwing punches.

Try to commit a little more with a snappier jab, just straight out.

Find the thinest smallest headgear to wear the one your using makes you lift your head in air everytime you try to do something! In boxing terminology its called "looking over the fence" and its a great way to get knockedout!!
Your spar partner is so new he doesn't belong sparing its a complete waste of time for everyone involved, he offers "no work"!

Your jab has no snap and all of your technique is wrong I understand your carrying your spar patned but you could put a fast hard jab to his chest and that wouldn't taking advantage of him!!
Find someone better than you to spar with that theres a lesson involved other wise your not learning anything!
Your roll around left hook will get you countered quickly and everytime you throw it, no offense meant that entire move your making is all wrong!
Slip his jab by moving your head quickly to your left then fire your hook, then rotate your body back underneath or follow your hook with your right hand then rotate back underneath off your right hand, thats how thats done!
You have a look about you that shows your willing but off that session your going to be stuck in the mud without a spar partner who has experience and good techniques. This sport takes years and years to learn and that with a trainer who can give you the knowledge you need and the spar session to prove you out!!! Good luck & get rid of that bulky head gear your vision is a mess with that thing.

You may try tightening it up on top (laces) to bring the forehead guard away from your vision. You need to learn to look out of the top of your eyes so your chin is down and your shoulders assist with keeping your chin and jaw "workable"! HA!!! good luck, Ray Corso

Thanks I know i do tend to squar up some when throwing multiple punches and tend to let my chin up to high, especially when stepping back. Im trying to make it instinct for the that chin to stay down.

Spar with people who are willing to work you, if you have it easy all the time it won't mean anything.

Remember this: Hands up, chin down.

Usually don't post on these types of threads but...

I don't get why you are even sparring yet. You are not ready and don't know how to box, move or do the most basic of things pertaining to the sport.

I would suggest you train a lot more, and also go over some technical situational sparring to get you accustomed to the ring.

Don't take offense man, but it's useless what you are doing, your not learning anything.
