Actually, JuanMa has very little "rhythm". He is a straight up, come forward fighter who is very heavy handed.
There was an interview with Robert Garcia before the fight where he was saying that JuanMa is tailor made for Mikey, and he was 100% right. JuanMa gives you very little head movement, can't avoid the right hand and leaves himself open for hook on the inside.
He's so easy to hit that all Mikey did was do little step backs off his jab and followed with the right hand over and over. I wasn't surprised one bit by the outcome, I knew JuanMa was going to put to sleep.
A fighter with the ability to move in a rhythmic way "with" his opponent has a distinct advantage! If a fighter is just moving to his own rhythm YES he can be timed and it could be used against!! When you have both fighters looking to time each others rhythm than you have some "boring rounds" taking place!!!
Great rhythm fighters are as obsolete as inside fighters have become!
It seems with all the "modern techniques and training upgrades, diet and scienecs" the solid fundimentals that allows a fighter to continue his career with progessions is gone!!!
The modern day athletes are bigger, faster, stronger ..........yet dumber!
Thanks for watching. Im glad you didnt get caught up in the wording. Rhythm for me just meant a guy that needs to do extra stuff with his feet in order to be set. Kind of like what Donaire's other trainer kept yelling at him during the Rigo fight. Cheers
