Buy a bladder? Why would exam conflict with a few minutes a day on a speed bag, once the bladder is replaced. Sounds like you don't force your hands to move faster when shadow boxing, pick up the pace. Also shadow out straight in the air and at a slight downward angle. Warm up then ad some weight in your hand (1lb.) for a round then eliminate the weight. Do some push ups to bump blood into the arm then shadow to work out the tenseness. Theres lots of ways to work speed without a bag, use your imagination. Ray

I've been mindlessly shadowboxing for 20-30 minutes while working on form and balance, admittedly due to advice from another thread on the boards, and doing the "01 Arm and Shoulder Conditioning for Boxing" interval training workout on youtube and my hand-speed, endurance, heck, even my understanding of certain aspects of form and function has increased a VERY respectable amount.
I start with footwork, move on to just jabbing/ feinting while focusing on footwork/ balance before finishing up by jabbing lightly and ripping the front hand back to throw a hard straight.
I finish up by throwing light, short, functional combos (I'm a southpaw so jab, straight, hook and maybe throw an uppercut in--ALL with proper form and weight transfer).
I'm thinking the muscle memory from that amount of repetition, itself, would quickly have anyone's speed in top shape after a couple of days. All that's needed is four pound weights.
