I suffer from a mild form of asthma that generally occurs when I run. It isn't particularly bad, nothing so serious as to require an inhaler, but I find it hinders me from running as strongly as I feel I should be able to given my level of fitness.
If I warm up significantly, say by running a mile or two at an average pace, the effect is lessened, but regardless of how much I run, I experience very noticeable shortness of breath and wheeziness both during and after runs. I can push through it, but as I mentioned, I feel it hinders what I should be able to do physically.
Is this something I can overcome by increasing my level of fitness? As in, will the point at which I start to experience the symptoms rise as my capabilities rise (i.e. if I experience an onset of symptoms at 40% effort, and then train to become twice as good a runner, will the syptoms occur at 20% or 40%?)
