if this were a professional fight you would have no trouble with the weight. But being an amatuer bout instead of fighting 24 hours after the weigh-ins you will be fighting 2-3 hours later, that is not enough time to replenish all that your body has lost in this drastic cutting of weight. Not only would you need to replenish the water in your body but all of the nutrients will need to be in place to fight strong. You said that you won't be fighting until 2 weeks, I say that yoiu talk with your trainer and see if you can get the fight set up for the next weight class above what the original terms were and see if your opponent will agree to it. Propose a catch weight for the bout.

Of all the things that I learned being in the ring I have certainly learned atleast one thing for sure, it's better to go into a fight strong than to go into one weaked from from fighting with the scales..

You can't propose a catchweight for an amatuer bout. This would never be agreed. 10 lbs in two weeks is fine.

If it's not a tournament they could certainly agree to a catch weight.

my original post was to the wrong guy I figured out. I was talking about the 37lbs over weight guy.

If you drink 2 gallons of water a day you will easily be able to drop that weight but you would still have to limit your water intake to do it..........Rockin'

Actually they do have catch weight in the amateur division. I think it depends on the promoter. I have heard other guys at my gym do it. Right now I am at the weight I need to be at. Rockin is right in most but NOT all amateur fights the weigh in is a few hours before the fight. I have a problem with holding water so I cut out my multivitamins which has got me feeling a little weak. I heard Pedilyte works best for restoring brain function and lost minerals. I think I will be fine. My workouts are brutal and I am getting through them okay and my sparring sessions. I do feel just a little loss of that extra spark but I am sure that will instantly come back as I start slamming the Pedialyte and eat a pasta dinner after the weigh ins.
