Funniest gym myths you have heard.

"Fat turns into muscle" has to be the most popular.

"You can't get bigger without using supplements" is one i heard more recently.

I also have a friend who thinks "the more protein you take the bigger your muscles get".

    Keep them coming...

Well I get the protein one in that if you consume more protein your muscles grow and repair at a more efficient rate...but that's not the only factor.

I've heard someone say bodybuilding makes you hard!

    Bodyweight exercises do noting

A pure liquid diet makes you muscles better (that one was funny)

But your body can only burn off so much protein. Your body will store excess amounts as fat.

No your body will not store protein as fat, this is a myth. Overkill can damage your kidneys an you're likely to s h it and p i s s the rest of it out, but low fat protein will not lead to fat.

I am 165 lbs and consume around 190 lbs of protein daily. Exsessive carbs have lead to fat build up. Too much protein just gives me the s h i t s, never added fat.

You think protein getting converted to fat is bs? Please, give me one reason why excess protein can't be converted into fat?

In the meant time, ill give you the reasons it does happen - one, excess calories get converted to fat. The body can only use so much protein therefore you can get an excess. It possesses calories. Anything that comes into the body outside of its need can get converted to fat (thats really just a restatement of one of the facts above).

I can understand as to where "You can't get bigger without using supplements"as if you don't have enought protein in your food, you need suplplments.

"the more protein you take the bigger your muscles get". is kind of true too, If you don't get at lest 0.5-1g per lbs for your bodyweight you will not gain muscle. for example a 180lb man needs 90-180g of protein depending upon his lean body mass.

As to body weight exercises do nothing, depends on what your are trying to do. for strength they are key but you will not really gain any muscle doing bodyweight exercises.

That is false. If you eat above your caloric maintenance then you will gain fat. The more protein you constume the better in a way even if you are on a diet, it doesn't mean you will get fat. if you don't consume enought protein you will lose muscle mass.

I did a lesson on this subject only 2 weeks ago. If there is too much protein intake at first it's converted into glucose. This is called 'gluconeogenesis'. After that the body will store it a fat.

Go look at the CYQ manual if you don't believe me.

Excess protein is converted to glucose by the liver and stored as fat if not used, this is pretty much scientific fact. I'm shocked people are saying otherwise.
