Does Being Flat Footed Affect Footwork?

Since a young age I have always been flat footed and during a sparring session yesterday, my trainer told me that mt flat footedness can be a determing factor in how my footwork is developed. Any truth to this?

ABSOLUTLY footwork is key getten the right angles etc....well to most trainers or boxers their are many "types" of boxers..ex...brawlers, counterpunchers, true boxers..etc...but footwork is a "must" u can be more flatfooted on ur front foot but u should always be on the balls of ur foot on the back

I heard Muhammed Ali and Joe Louis both were flatfooted.
Muhammed Ali as you know had amazing foot work.
I myself am slightly flatfooted but I'm pretty agile and use a lot of movement during sparring.
When you move around you usually push with the balls of your feet and try not to stand on your heels.
Don't worry about it, it doesn't hinder your motor skills or coordination which is ultimately the most important parts of good footwork.
Might get a little soar easier but you should have no problem developing it if you work hard on it.

in terms of boxing. flat feet refers to a person who does not stand on the balls of his feet. it does not mean a man with low arches in his feet

False I am extremely flat footed and have knocked out pretty much everyone at my gym in an avergae of less than 10-15 seconds. But its my natural talent and power so I dont know if it applies to anyone else.

yes, but didn't understand it i guess.

you seem to be saying Ali was a flat footed fighter. which he was not.

he bounced on his toes till his early 30's. after which he bounced periodicity in the center of the ring but would go flatfooted from time to time to conserve energy while he fought off the ropes.

while Ali had the will, waist and chin to make this tactic work for him it wasn't his best style and was the reason he absorbed large amounts of punishment late in his career.

Joe Louis was flatfooted as most stalker are. but he made up for it with great countering skills he was never thought of as having beautiful footwork. he basically looked like a bigger, slower version of Ike Quarte.

                you said

people who fight flatfooted aren't agile and can generically only fight going forward.

                and then you said

what your telling him to do there is not be flatfooted and bounce off his toes.

the combination of you calling Ali flatfooted, saying you are flatfooted but move around the ring agilely and telling this guy to "stay on his toes and off his heels" made me think you where talking about the medical condition laymen call "flatfeet" where a persons arches fall closer to the floor and , incidentally, make it painful to stand on your toes.

that is what you where saying right?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!! I said they were actually FLATFOOTED not that ALI was a flatfooted fighter
                  .
Joe Louis avoided getting drafted for having Flatfeet I believe, but then the change the rules and he still got drafted but still wasn't in active service.
Muhammed Ali I saw somewhere were someone who trained with him talked about him actually being Flatfooted

LOL trying to school me like I'm some kind of a idiot.
I ask you to read wtf TS wrote and WTF I wrote instead of trying to school me lol.
As I myself are slightly flatfooted your feet hurts when you walk or run normally for a period of time if you don't have special shoes. It is in the middle of you sole that hurt not on the balls of your feet.
When you actually are on your balls of your feet I find that It is much more comfortable then to walk around
