help with sparring

    yeah they keep screaming ''relax'' to me outside the ring i dont know how yet. i dont know how to breath nor hold my stomach nor relax my shoulders. is their a way i can practice?

      Breathing is definitely important for the later rounds (as an amateur, that's round 3 and 4). In through your nose and out through your mouth, especially when you're throwing - always let your wind out in case you're caught with a counter.

      As for the "big shots", you just have to get accustomed to being hit. After 3 or so months you'll start to take the shots better, and you won't panic, or even get hit as much. Six months down the road, it'll be even better. After a few years, you'll know about where your chin stands. If you don't have a good chin by then, you just need a damn good defense. Counter-punching usually works best.

      I can take shots now, and not even be winded or stunned, that would've dropped me only a year ago.

If you are in there stiff and tense, a jab is going to feel like a boulder hitting you.         I was fortunate enough to not only after gifted athletic ability in all sports(Football all start RB/Cornerback, basketball travel point guard, baseball travel center field/pitcher, and boxing), but I was born into a boxing family and trained with former world champions / nationally ranked amatures at the age of 6. I always did my workouts by the ring when they were sparring, or within sight when they were working the bag / mitts.

        I'd suggest watching the veterans of your gym while they are sparring. Don't just stand there either, shadow box.

        There are tons of things you can do to avoid shots and what not. But me or anyone else sitting here writing in text isn't going to do you any good. I could show you videos, but that wont really help either. Until you have enough experience in the ring, and I am not talking about the gym. The gym is a comfortable setting, you need to have some real fights under your belt in front of a huge crowd. After that, you should be able to start to relax in the gym, and eventually in an actual fight.

        You will one day be like, wow, I just did that? Like the little dips or pivots you see people perform with ease, and when you do them it feels and looks awkward as hell. One day, you'll just do it.

          Well I see you like basketball. You must of played a little at some point in your life.

          Remember when you first learned to dribble, how hard and difficult it felt while trying to dribble and move at the same time?

          Or when you attempted a cross over or behind your back or through the legs, or any neat little moves like that?

          Then eventually, after doing things and attempting them for so long, you were able to sprint down the court with the ball and didn't even have to think about it, it just happened.

          Or if you were to make a move on someone you just did a quick crossover and boom you were gone, there was no thinking or awkward feeling.

          Well eventually, you will have that same feeling in boxing, and you'll be able to have tons of fun. It is all time, experience, beatings, and trials and tribulations of the ring!
