Hitman's nutrition program upturns conventional ideas in upcoming fight with Juan Lazcano.

An Interview With Undefeated #1 Boxing Contender Ricky 'Hitman' Hatton!

Kerry Kayes Interview: Training Boxing Welterweight Ricky Hatton!

Pretty interesting stuff, I didn't know that world class elites take so many supplements!

Bodybuilding.com interviewed other pro boxers, too. I've noticed that the boxers that never became world champ, and/or never made it as far as someone like Hatton, took little supplements. The most they would take were Protein and/or multivitamin supplements. Some don't take supplements at all.

Then you look at Hatton's nutrition, with all the supplements he takes. I'm sure most or all top athletes take all kinds of supplements. Competitors who don't are probably putting themself at a disadvantage when it comes to competing against the top guys who most likely use supplements.

How many of you in here use supplements, and what kind?

lol, yeah pretty funny considering how fat he gets in between fights.

but come fight camp time, he's a machine. how else would he lose all that weight?

i just wish he had stayed in shape in between fights instead of bloating up and down.

I think that really affects his performance. He would be a total different fighter if he took care of himself between fights as you said.

From what I've just read, he drinks 4 litres of water, in-takes 200g of protein and 2700cals. He lifts weights like a bodybuilder (low reps & high weight).

I've heard of some boxers drinking ALOT of water such as nigel benn.

"But in fairness the day he does walk in the gymnasium he is like a Buddhist monk and he really does train very hard and he does everything you ask of him 100%."

Currys and beers aside he sure makes up for it when he has to. One of the articles also said he would have been an excellent bodybuilder now that would of been a sight. English Oak Ricky Hatton.

ah yes the good ol' ricky hatton. i dislike how much hate he gets on here. the man only lost to today's top 2 p4p fighters!

and when he did, i feel that hatton's chin was no longer the same ever since he beat Kostya Tszyu. hatton ate a ton of bombs from Tszyu, and took them like skittles dipped in maple syrup!. after that fight, his punch resistance was clearly not the same anymore.

The 2005 Hatton that fought Tszyu would have lost a close buy clear UD to Floyd, and probably would have lost a round 11/12 TKO to Pacquiao or a clear UD. just my opinion!

Nobody has ever become a champion from using supplements, and nobody has ever not become a champion from not using supplements. The same guys who are successful with supplements would have been equally successful without them, and vice-versa.

Personally, I would never take any supplement beyond a multivitamin.

Supplements were the reason why Hatton never had problems dropping weight when needed. He was also a high tempo fighter and so pasta wouldnt be enough for him,he needed controlled energy release.I have always known Hatton took supplements and some fighters do.To be honest boxing is a tough sport and any legal advantage you can have you should. It's not easy to box for 3 rounds let alone 12 rounds. Many fighters fade after round 5 and that's where nutrition has its advantage.

Those supplements are however the reason Hatton is so fat now, look at Kerry Kayes you cant believe he was Mr Britain at once,he's so fat now.Once you get off those supplements it gives you problems.Check the old school type of fighters like Ray Leornard, they managed to stay slim, then those who take stuff often bulk up when they quit.Of course some of it is due to genetics.
