I use a minimalist type shoe, Vibram Five Fingers.

I wish I had gone the minimalist route years ago.

i heard that this has many advantages for one's body.

but wouldnt it affect your knees in the long run?

Nope, it's better for your knees as well.

when you land on the ball of your foot your ankle takes alot of the pressure off your knee. when you wear shoes you tend to land more on the heel then the ball of the foot placing all the pressure at the knee instead of spread out between your ankle and your knee.

Correct. Most traditional shoes with support force you to heel strike. That is bad for the body.

Barefoot, or minimalist shoes, have NO support.

Info from this site, is pretty much the same info you can find anywhere. The same benefits apply to being completely barefoot. Wearing those shoes is just to protect you from glass and other objects on the street.

thanks to you and ruby. ill try this and will observe.

btw, is it ok to run in concrete barefooted/minimalist as this track is hard for the feet.
