Should I do kickboxing if I want to be a boxer?

I would suggest just going to a boxing gym, the footwork, movements, and the stance are completely different in kickboxing.
I trained kickboxing for one year before switching to boxing, and I also prefer boxing much more. Kickboxing did however give me a good base in striking regardig basic combos, but I had to chance everything once I switched to boxing. The stance, the way I move, the way I throw my punches etc.
So I think its better just to start boxing right away if thats an option. I dunno maybe there is no good boxing gym in your area or something.

Its very different, if you really want to do boxing, which from your original post sounds like it, do boxing. You can supplement boxing into kickboxing, but not the other way around. You'll never have a boxer move like a Thaiboxer/kickboxer, because they don't need to check kicks.
I personally have not trained in boxing, but I train Muay Thai, there's a lot more than kicking and punching though, a lot of counters, and different evasion techniques. But still, you don't move around like a boxer though, so its different.
I wouldn't say a kickboxer is completely flat footed though. We are told to stay on our toes.

I would do the opposite and box first before you do kickboxing. The fundamentals are different and will be harder to unlearn if you do kickboxing first. Might be cheaper to just box too

make boxing your technique goal, stance/movement ect. then try to add in some kicks of your own while training. kicking is good for the muscles in the torso and for leg strength and fitness. but i would suggest to think of yourself as a boxer that can kick rather than a kickboxer who punches well. i think the boxing stance "peekaboo" allows for better use of elbows than the kickboxing stance anyway. and low kicks and front kicks can be easily adapted to the boxing stance. its only the high kicks or spinning kicks that might best suit the kick boxing stance.

I'm not sure if this was common knowledge, but it is generally advisable to do boxing if you want to be a boxer.
Seriously, kickboxers stand different, put their weight differently, hold their hands different, different style.
And when you come over to boxing, you have to change so much. And the way kickboxers punch and hold their hands is dangerous in boxing. (As in, a good fighter will **** you)

But at the same time, I don't want to be a kickboxer. I want to be a boxer, so I figured that doing kickboxing will not allow me to fully focus on learning the skill of using my hands, because I will also have to learn how to use my legs too.
I was just thinking that if I want to really do boxing, it should be not 50% legs 50% arms, just 100% arms.
Any opinions?

As a person who has done both, I say just do boxing.
The reason is that boxing will force you to be a perfectionist due to the limited nature of the offense and thus because its hands only it will open up new avenus to become a super striker by educating you in angles, distancing, fast hands, balancing and shifting weight. Sadly kickboxers dont do that because there to focused in kicking that most of them neglect these fundementals.
Think about it...sometimes less is more and thats why boxers are superior at what they do cause there all about quality not quantity and keep in mind because of the rich history and the talent pool of boxing, specaily in the western world, you will have better sparring partners and high level coaching by nature.
