Fight this weekend, When should i stop sparring

    Hi Guys,

I have a fight coming up this sunday may 30th (a 3 rounder, amateurs).

i sparred a very hard 5 rounds on fri night, and backed up saturday although i was very stiff and sore and sparred 3 rounds.

My trainer wants me to spar again tues and then taper off.

I'm still very stiff in neck, shoulders, and wondered if i should just freshen myself up...rather than get the extra sparring session in?

anyone got any advice from similar experiences?

    thanks,

    David

How long have you been training? How many fights do you have? If you did all the gym and road work, you should be good to go. Rest 1 or 2 days before you fight. Just light work.

Three days before but you should still do some really light sparring drills the next day

I wouldn't stop sparring or doing drills. Just cut off the heavybag, roadwork and weightlifting 2-3 days before. Or the weightlifting I would cut off atleast 5 days before. I usually spar with some of the newer people on the day, just to get some nerves out. It seriously helps. But good luck

But you seriously have to trust in your trainer. He knows best, not us, but him.
