    Cutting weight

I'm 154 right now but trying to get down to 140 to fight, how long does it take you to cut 14 lbs usually? I'm eating healthily and in the gym 6 days a week.

You don't really need to cut weight for any of your first few fights, just fight at your natural weight.

Also, if you are training hard 6 days a week, eating well and weighing 154 you will have a tough time getting down to 141.

I had to drop a lot of weight when I started in order to be competitive. If your in there 6 days a week, make sure your training is a relatively high intensity. Your diet is probably the most important factor. Many times people believe there eating healthy when they are really not, so make sure you got that in check, and make sure your not over eating at all. Throw in cardio, and it's next to impossible not to drop weight. Plus, if you get down to 145, you'll be able to weigh in at 141 no sweat.

As far as a time frame goes, it's all up to you with how much you push it, and how much you restrict your diet. I recently went from 178 to weighing in at 165 in a little over two weeks, granted, leading up to the fight I had to eat VERY little and lost a lot in water weight which you shouldn't do unless you really have to. After the fight I went back up to 170 and have been about there ever since. A general rule of thumb is you can lose about two pounds of body fat a week healthily.
