    High reps, high weight?

    To tone muscle, you do high reps at low weight
    to build muscle you do low reps at high weight

    what then, does high reps at high weight do?

    Well if the weight is high then you wouldn't be able to do a lot of reps because you'd get tired after only a few.

        ok, so if i can do a lot of reps, i need to increase my weight?

        It's just because i have found that the wights i have at home are no longer heavy enough that i can only do 5-6 reps, so i am doing sets of 15, i guess i need to buy more weight.

          Yeah if you are able to do a lot of reps it means you need to increase the weight slowly. By slowly i do mean slowly, lets say you bench press 200 pounds, don't try to jump to 250 in one go.

            ok, i do need to buy some more weight, i cant afford it yet, so i guess ill just keep doing what im doing in the meantime.

              20-40% 1 rep max 20-40 reps 2-4 sets quickly for speed.

              30-50% 1 rep max 15-30 reps 2-4 sets for endurance

              40-60% 1 rep max with 8-12 reps 3 sets for building muscle

              60-80% 1 rep max 3-5 reps 3 sets for explosive strength

              80-100% 1 rep max 1-3 reps 3 sets for explosive strength and increasing max strength with out hypertrophy.

              you should always have at least a min break between sets and you should always stretch the muscle your working between sets.

                forget about 'toning muscles' what you want for fighting is strength, the rest will come as a fringe benefit
