I've never liked Everlast, even their high-end stuff. But, Ringside is generally a safe bet, but, as a rule of thumb and this goes for any brand. I wouldn't go for gloves below $80.
If your forced to choose between the two I'd take the Ringside gloves as I know a few fellows at my gym at school who have had nothing but trouble from the Everlast gloves. The padding in the Everlast glove tends to move around too much in the glove and leaves your padding "clumpy". If you can, try to convince your old man to spend an extra $30 (Or ask if you can cut the lawn, wash the cars, etc) on nicer gloves. I would strongly recommend the Ringside IMF tech gloves if your set on ordering from Ringside.

I told him that and he said that I have to do for free.
He got me the ones from ring side and the top contender cup, i already have head gear so I'm good to go. Boxing equipment at public gyms suck, thank God I have a Dad looking out for me.
