cut the ring off, get him cornered. get good at catching the jab and parry it so you're on his outside. From there its bodyshots all day long

have u been sparring me? lol i got them super long arms i'm 5'11" at 140 so i'm the guy u spar lol secret is this..like one said earlier use angles..have u worked on catching a jab? simply by turning ur hand and catching dont swoosh at it simply catch it in ur position..catch the jab slip his right and catch him to the body and stay close after that..otherwise u gotta try and out jab him and take small steps inward toward him each time wich can b dangerous if ur no Tyson lol

Watch how they go about their work, and adopt some of their tactics.
For me bobbing and weaving, and constantly switching between different guard positions helps. If you come up against a big slugger then the Archie Moore cross armed guard works well once you get within his punching range. For boxers I either use the low guard and shoulder shield like Frazier or bob and weave in like Dempsey or Tyson then unload alternate hooks to the body and head (early Tyson works this tactic really well).
Another thing I like doing is using deceptive footwork to feign being out of range. The opponent is usually very aware of the position of your LEAD foot (as obviously being is this foot tells him that he is within punching range. What I do is take a HALF STEP BACK with my LEAD foot, without moving the REAR foot, and hang my shoulder out over my (now retracted) LEAD knee. The opponent will usually fall for this and step forward to try and jab. When he steps in you jab and just after you start that jab, lunge forward off the REAR foot straight through his punching range and INSIDE him, behind your jab. The jab often connects with his face as he steps forward into it, it also has your full body weight travelling straight behind it, so the effect on the opponent can be totally catastrophic
The key points are:
1) Take half step back with LEAD foot, and hang your lead shoulder over your lead knee. Do NOT move the REAR foot.
2) Wait for opponent to initiate forward step into (what he thinks is) range
3) Start your jab moving forward, the LEAD hand MUST START MOVING FIRST...
4) ...and a split second after your jab starts lunge your entire body forward off your REAR foot. This puts all your weight behind that lead jab. It's like falling onto your fist. When you land your front foot will automatically have recovered it's usual position.
5) Now you are inside, and probably caught him on the way in, with both your body weights behind your fist and his face! Unload with hooks cos you are well inside at this point and he's going to lose 1-2 beats trying to back peddle with his weight still travelling forwards.
Hope this helps. It's some of my best **** LOL
