Why do i not "ache" the day after lifting?

    From my understanding with weight lifting, your body doesn't have to ache the next day to show that your workout was productive. I have days when I lift weights and am not sore but my numbers still go up (some weeks they don't change). I've heard soreness is to a lack of calorie diet, but I don't know how true that is.
