    Boxer's Diet

Can everybody here post their diets when training ? Dieting is my biggest challenge since i tend to dehydrate myself when i try to loose weight and this affects my stamina. I am looking for an effective way to loose weight slowly and be in top shape at the same time. Thank You

I posted this on another thread recently.

      Hi there,

I used to fight a never ending battle with my weight. My body feels happiest at LHW but is always pulling towards the heavy end of CW, and above 175lbs I feel slow heavy and lethargic.

A few months back I read a book called "Slim for Life" by a guy called "Jason Vale" AKA "The Juicemaster". I'm 39 years old and in all honesty this book has totally changed my life for the better. Following his recommendations I slightly altered my already healthy diet to incorporate fresh vegetable juices and fresh fruit smoothies. I usually mix the two together and go through around 3 pints a day. To follow this you need a decent juicer, and twin screw juicers are the best if you can afford one. It is essential to brew your own juice. Packet and bottle juices don't cut the mustard.

If I need to cut weight then I skip solid food and just drink 5 pints of juice. The juice is really thick and filling and I don't feel hungry on the juice only days... but more to the point unlike a water fast (and believe me I know all about water fasts) with the juice I am absolutely bursting with energy and can still train flat out.

Since adopting the juice my body fat has decreased and I've packed on a lot more muscle. I'm in the best shape of my life.

The other important dietary changes I've made are to cut our refined foods, refined sugars, and white starches. This means cutting out white flour, white bread, white pasta, white rice, and potatoes. I replaced these with whole grain organic whole foods, like wholemeal pasta, wholegrain rice, quinoa, wholemeal bread. These complex carbs release energy slowly and that prevents your body getting a sugar rush and dumping in a bunch of insulin. The interesting thing is that (as demonstrated by Atkins etc) if you eat excess fat you'll just **** it back out. But taking in sugar and white starches causes excess insulin to be produced and the body stores excess insulin as fat. So simply by cutting out the white sugars and white starches you can avoid getting fat.

      Hope this helps.

EDIT: I actually had the pleasure of meeting Jason Vale yesterday when he opened a juice bar in my city. I mentioned to him that his dietary recommendations were really useful for fighters looking to stabilise and/or cut weight. He told me that several other fighters had already commented on this.
