    Only able to counterfight!

Ive been boxing for many months now and i would always get my ass kicked in sparring session but recently im able to defeat some of my sparring partners for the first time when i began trying to anticipate my oppenents punches and counter right the before or at the same time after they start there first punch, i dont move much either except after i thrown a couple punches i will turn away from his powerhand but will always remain in punching range (im only 5'9/176)
Ive gotten success fighting this way but im unable to fight any other way and probably the biggest reason i got beaten in sparring before was because i would try to fight outside even though i was the shorter guy.
Should i remain to only capitalize on counterfighting or should i try other styles as well?

It is alway better to go from other styles.

Because for a person to throw flurries and you would counter one shot but what about the next other shots which is usally stronger than the first one which set up the big shots?

Counter is a good because you could KO a person without using alot of power but it have cons due to the fact you wait for him to hit first.

What if another person is much quick at counter he could counter you counter attack.

This is happenning due to inexperience. You get apprehensive going on the inside because you can't see punches to well yet so the safe bet for you would be to stay on the outside because you have a better chance of seeing something coming, hence you don't initiate the fight but rather wait for your sparring partner to make a mistake first so you can try and capitalize. This further proves my point with you being the shorter man trying the same thing on someone taller when you should get on the inside to be effective. I don't have so much advice as a facts, you just have to relax and accept the fact that you will get hit so mix it up on the inside and try everything you have learned. You are counterpunching more due to fear than it actually being your style. Perhaps headgear with a facebar can help you out here because even though you'll get hit you can do your best to not blink due to you having a facebar which in turn will help you get used to seeing punches better and gives you a chance to see where you've made your mistakes. There are many facebar headgears out there but the best one I have tried on is the Winning brand due to it's low weight. Hope this helps and remember relax and accept the fact that you'll get hit and you can only grow from there. Peace.
