rest and ice cold baths help.

ice cold baths also help you get cut faster.

Walk on your heals after running or any type of workout with impact on your feet.

yea ive had shin splints while i was playing soccer. my sports med coach told me that there is really no way i culd help it. all i did was wrap m and wen i didnt have the wraps on i had a shin splint sleeve. she also told me 2 buy arch supports and put them in my shoes. it got better but never went away its been 6 mounths since soccer and i still have pain on occasions

              Resting is the most effective.

I had it so bad one time that I couldn't plant my foot to throw a power punch.

                ice them

i used to get them riduculously from skiing... very painful, and countless dr visits left me with nothing but "ice them"
