    boxers and asthma...?

I have asthma and I've boxed in the amateurs.

My question, can pro boxers fight w/asthma?... are they allowed to use their inhalers?

Shannon Briggs had asthma, so did Sugar Ray Leonard. Tyson had a lung disease, Mayorga's a smoker. It's been done, i think people can box with asthma. I have asthma, it's not soo bad.

          I should've been more specific.

I wanted to know whether you can use an inhaler leading up to the fight. I know u can't actually use it during the fight.

Would it show up on some sort of blood test, if im not mistaken using an inhaler is like taking steroids for your lungs.

inhaler opens up your bronchial tubes wich get constricted because of asthma. shouldnt show up on any blood test and is also useless for someone with out asthma since their bronchial tubes are already open

yes it will and no you can't an active ingredient in most inhalers is ephedrine which is a form of speed, its illegal in the us to use it 24 hour before a fight.
