Being mentally strong is a key thing in boxing. No one knows how important is to be mentally strong but those who have tried, those who have never stepped foot in the ring - don't know. So, how do you train your mind? How do you become mentally strong? Discuss.

Always have to be relaxed and train extremely hard. plus dont do anything ****** before fight and sleep well

If you can go through the rigors of boxing on a regular basis, and force yourself to train when you really don't want to, you are pretty strong mentally.
That being said, I don't really think you can train yourself to be strong mentally. Some have more will than others, naturally.

I agree, if you go to the gym and train hard when your eally don't want to, that's being mentally strong. I think another way to be mentally strong is think about the good things you do. For example, your power, speed, etc. Just think something you got that your opponent or sparing partner doesn't have. For me, I always tell myself that no one in my gym at my weight has the power I got (I'm not trying to showoff or anything). Another thing is my heart. When I go to the ring, I am willing to die there and not back down. I will say, I am not the most skillful boxer in my gym or anything, but something I don't lack is heart, and power comes second. Some people have a big mouth saying they're this and that, and that is another way for them to build their confidence and train their mind. For me, talking too much NEVER helps. I hate talking too much, saying I'm this and that, that just hurts me. I rather keep it to myself and not say anything.

no but really id say mental training is just going from a situation to a situation you have control over with everyday things. like catching your self when you trip. or keeping you balance when you step on a wobbly rock.
oh wait you mean like inner pushing. i think thats more of a matter of how you were raised and your outlook on life.

Well I used to be very confident going into fights because I trained really hard and had quality sparring partners that were bigger and more experienced. I knew when I had a fight there was (pretty much) nothing that my opponent could do that I hadn't dealt with in sparring and I wasn't prepared for. Train hard, fight easy approach.
But now I just had my last novice fight and am open class now so my opponents are better and I don't get much quality sparring anymore because all the good people save for one have left my gym. I can't get to another gym right now so I've got pretty low confidence for fighting right now. **** sucks.
