How often should a person spar or train if their boxing for self-defense ?
They're
If you want to make boxing your self defense than you will need to make everything about the art second nature.
That takes alot of time in the ring. I sparred every day for years before I was confident of using it in a street fight.
It takes time and a lot of dedication.
If you get actual bouts set up and throw your fists in them than you will lose the 'nerves' of fighting. That's key, but again, that takes time and dedication.
If you are asking this because you are expecting a fist fight to happen soon than just forget about it.
Higher yourself a body guard. It's an old film but watch My Bodyguard.
There were a ton of people that I planned to go after once I gained true skill. And you know what, once I got the skill I found that they weren't even worth my time.
Learn the art because it appeals to you. In this sport you gotta want it, every grueling part of it...............Rockin'Last edited by Rockin'; 03-15-2023, 09:48 AM.

The main thing that you must train are your eyes, after training your body, and what they see.
They need to pick up every motion of your opponent.
They need to see that right hand shooting in for your nose and your body needs to know how to get under it or your head to the side of the shot.
You'll never make it first instinct sparring only a few times a month. And that is exactly what you'll need if you want to learn to defend yourself...........Rockin'Last edited by Rockin'; 03-24-2023, 02:21 AM.

The frequency and type of boxing self-defense training will depend on several factors, including the individual's current skill level, time availability, and desired training intensity. However, here are some general recommendations that can help a person who is training in boxing for self-defense:
Regular Training: It is important to train regularly to develop and maintain effective self-defense skills. Training 2-3 times per week can be a good starting point for many beginners. As skill and confidence are gained, the frequency and intensity of training can be increased.
Strength and conditioning training: In addition to specific boxing workouts, it is important to include strength and conditioning training sessions. These workouts can help improve the stamina, strength, and power needed for self-defense. Strength and conditioning training sessions can be done on alternate days to specific boxing training.
Training with a partner: Training with a partner can be very beneficial for self-defense in boxing, as it allows you to practice defending techniques in more realistic situations. The partner can act as an opponent in a self-defense situation and help train decision-making in stressful situations.
