    A Question About Slipping Shots

Which way is best to slip your head when a jab is shooting straight for your face and which way is best to slip when a right hand is about to smash your nose? Do you slip the shots, the jab and right hand, to your left or right. And why is it the best way?

While just getting your face out of the way of the shot is correct, it is not the answer that I'm looking for and is not the best answer.

I usually try to judge their reach and a stay a good distance, then working from there. I'm pretty quick on my feet so I either step to the side or block, roll with the shot.

I'm going to guess that you will say the best way is to slip a jab to your right. And to slip a right hand to your left.

But it's valid to do the opposite too. Jack Dempsey described a combination the he called an inside triple, which starts by slipping the jab to the inside (meaning to your right.)

Also, in the Peekaboo style there is a movement where you slip to the right against a jab-cross combination. You make BOTH punches miss with one slip.
