Pretty soon I am starting to train with a new coach. Have you guys ever experienced a coach that will change your style of fighting? For example, I have found myself comfortable in a more square stance and finding success with this. Do you think a new coach will make me stand a different way from this that I am not comfortable with? Or do most coaches not care how their boxers stand

Have you ever had a boxing coach try to change your style/stance?

I think that most coaches don't try to make their boxer anything else then the style the boxer is natural with, if you get a student and you watch him spar for the first time and he tries to box from the outside and not try and engage they will try to keep him like that cause that’s how he naturally is, the only reason i would see them trying to change him is if he’s not the type for out boxing (long arms, tall) but some coaches that are actually boxers try teach their students their way that they do it, which is why most boxers don’t make good coaches, i think if your stance is completely off balance and terrible then they will try to change it but if it works they will let it go

It will depend how experienced you are, maybe you are not balanced well and the coach is trying to correct it.
Also it’s good to be able to “give different looks” to your opponent. One day you will fight a guy who is better at being squared up and fighting than you and it will be very helpful if you can also fight with the angled stance and box in circles.
You can learn something from every coach you ever meet even if they are not super experienced. You never know what moves they know that you dont. Keep open ears and a open mind it will make you a better fighter
