Tagged on the button...will your nose "toughen up"?

obviously the best solution is not get hit, i realize that, but i spar with professionals in my gym, im an amateur, and im getting hit about 2 times per 4 rounds right on the button. i spar about 2-3 times a week if im face is up 2 it, but as of late my ****ing nose has hurt like hell 24/7 from previous shots, not even the bridge of the nose, but the lower half.
my question is will your nose at some point in time heal a little faster or toughen up so to speak?
my nose rarely bleeds and yesterday i sparred without fully healing and the first shot on the button my nose bled like a fountain...

thanx for any tips or help guys

ANYONE ELSE GOIN TO THE RING ****ZINE LARGEST AMATEUR TOURNAMENT SEPTEMBER 19?! if so ill see ya there

I was about to post the same question...

am thinking that our nose will get used to it after occasional sparrings?

    just like running?

Mine used to be like that. I would get hit on my nose every time I sparred. But, as I got better less I got hit and that gave it time to heal and has not bed since.

I think the face saver headguards help protect it a little bit more too.

          Well here is my take:

I've been boxing for just about two years and I've sparred a lot in that time. If I take too many shots on the nose or a couple hard shots on the nose, my nose bleeds a lot. To my knowledge, it's genetics. Some people are more prone to nose bleeds than others. There are a couple ways to prevent this:

          1) Keep your hands up. Just work on your defense and you'll take less clean shots to the face.

          2) Use saline solution to keep your nose moist and to tighten up the membranes in your nose. You can also rub some vaseline in there with a Q-Tip.

          3) Nose Cauterization - I don't know how it works exactly, but they pretty much stick silver nitrate up your nose and it reduces nose bleeds greatly. Do some research on it and talk with your doctor

I'm thinking about getting a nose-saver headgear for sparring to protect my nose. Apparently this is the best on the market, all the pros use it:

How effective is it? Do you bleed at all? And was it expensive? Thanks.

Can my own doctor do it?

and what are the pre-cautions, symptoms, or steps in order to get one?

                how much?

First time I broke my nose it hurt like hell. It bled all over the place and my eyes even swelled up a little. After about the 3rd time of it breaking, it barely even bled.

Like everything else, your body adjusts to it. I mean, it never feels good to get punched directly in the nose but you do get used to it as compared to when it first happens. I would suggest wearing headgear that has a face protector if you don't want your nose to be broken because the shape of it will change.

While my nose doesn't look like Vinny Paz, it does have a nice hump in the middle of it from being broken 3 times.

I would hate getting my nose broken in sparring.

It happened to you in sparring?
