    When do you guys think you should train the hardest?

    Before a bout? amateur obviously
    I think my trainer told me the week before the week of the fight is when you train the hardest (so if the fight is on the 21st of July you do your very hardest week of training from the 7th until the 14th)

    and then the week of the fight you take it down a notch and sharpen up.

    what do you guys think/get told?

    yeah thats true. thats the last week u really push yourself. if u go all out on the week of the fight u will have nothing left for the acctual fight, u will overtrain. the last week u recover somewhat from the rough part of training and try to maintain shape. fine tune the smaller things.

      Im doing an 18 week marathon training program and the hardest week is 15 from then i gradually build down and on week 18 i run the marathon. since its an 18 week program id say if you were only training 8 weeks or so id say the week before the week of the fight any longer id go with 2 weeks before the week of the fight as the hardest week

        well just recently i took a fight on a weeks notice, the fight is on the 29th and i accepted the challenge on the 22nd. But i train hard year round to stay in shape and right now ive kicked up the training. I believe by the 29th i should be in my fighting condition and i am very confident i will win this bout.

        its not so much of a fight as it is a challenge by a friend, him and I are having an exhibition type thing.

        2 fights on the same day
        1st is MMA, 3 rounds of 5 minutes
        2nd is Boxing, 8 rounds of 3 minutes.

        rules: 8oz gloves, no headgear

        we are treating this like an actual match so when we get in the ring we'll be ready to KO eachother. and he's already told me he does'nt plan to take any of the fights to the distance. so ive been training extra hard becuase ive figured that i want this win over him since he is the kinda guy who is a little ****y.
