yeah, bob and weavers often get a raw deal in the amateurs............

Blue corner won. Gold corner, needed to cut off the ring, not follow him around. Balance was poor. When moving forward gold always drags right foot behind. You need to pick up the pace, be first. Throw 3 and 4 punch combo's. Seemed like maybe you were looking for the one big shot too much.
Nothing to be ashamed of. Better luck next time.

Also, at least you have more skills than that so called pro, white hope, aka charlie z

thanks for the honest feedback from everyone, except the person who said he only watched a round and a half and can make a decision based from that.. (most likely what the USA amateur boxing judges do, zone out half way through)

i was in gold, and i admit it was not my greatest performance, i did not live up to my true potential and i made numerous mistakes due to loose technique.

but when youre juggling school, work and training, and a long time trainer moves away 5 months before the golden gloves and you have to settle for a adequate one at best, i guess this is what happens.

no excuses though, live and learn.

i found it strange how nobody mentioned my body work. my style (as a few of you said, is not very welcome in the amateurs) also encorporates a lot of body work, which i believe is most important when you are boxing. the effects it has on a person can be devastating, and i enjoy using it to slow down my opponent.

i also found it strange how most of you thought that blue showed good skills. he looked very sloppy, and it upsets me that i was not able to capitalize on such a crappy fighter. i should have realized holding 20+ times in amateur boxing was completely welcome.

in the end, i will NOT change my style to appeal amateur judges. most of them are unqualified for their duty, and amateur boxing in general has transformed, as teddy atlas says, from boxing to fencing.

if i chose to continue boxing after school, i will continue using my same style and fighting strategy, which is a calm yet assertive pace.

another 2-3 rounds and i would have put that kid through the canvas
