a guy who has a record like 15-30 in the ams has the exact same opportunity to win a major tournament as a guy who is 45-0. a pro who is 15-30 wouldn't even get the opportunity to win a major title. that's why people say your record doesn't matter in the amateurs (and also obviously because you start over when you turn pro).

IMO, as long as you don't have a fcuked up record and you train and fight hard, i think it'll be aiite.
How do you guys recover from a loss? Or how do you gain from a victory? Regardless, win like a man; lose like a man.

lots of one or two point losses too....amateur scoring is so dodgy those fights could easily go the other way under different judges....so it dont matter too much
my last fight was a loss, but i fought well and i learnt a lot from it.....i was a bit pissed with myself after the loss because im one of those people that always think "what if" like if i landed one more punch or whatever, but i watched the fight after and i was pleased even tho i lost

In any competition you can expect to see a winner and a loser. What the record book doesn't show is how you won or lost. There is always a little bit of luck involved, but many fights are won by the grit and determination that comes from an over powering desire to win. At the higher levels, the physical differences between men is not usually the determining factor in the outcome of a fight, it is the difference in their minds and hearts. If you want something bad enough you will do anything to get it. Bring that attitude to the ring and you will be a very tough customer.
