if you're on a budget, i'd get some title gels or title platinum 16 oz bag gloves. they are comfortable and protect hands well. i got some platinum 16 oz bag gloves 2 weeks ago and they have been good.

If you want wrist support get some extra long wraps and wrap more around the wrists. If you get wraps that arent really stretchy (they get stiffer the longer you use them too) then they tend to give better support but theyre not as comfortable.
I've used lace ups once or twice and they give me better wrist support than the hook & loop type. I cant really suggest a brand name because I'm broke 90% of the time and until my everlast break down like my previous pairs Im not buying any more.
If you need really cheap gloves you can try everlast (neverlast) but dont get the amateur style get their pro style, theyre about 20 bucks more but they last alot longer. Ive tried both styles.

My Grant superbag gloves are one of my alltime favorite pairs.
On the other hand, I have a pair of Grant 16oz lace ups and I HATE those things - half the time I'll switch 'em out before I'm done with the workout.
I used to like Twins, had a pair of 14s that were golden till the padding in the glove bunched up. Bought 2 pairs through Title's website, one with elastic wrist, other with velcro. First pair was garbage, didn't last 3 workouts before i gave them away. Second pair okay, but really uncomfortable - seems to be getting a little better with more use. Not sure I'd call 'em pillow gloves, though they are kinda soft.
I have Title Gels. They're okay, but I don't like how they fit.
I MUCH prefer Ringside IMF Tech gloves.
Ringside Ultimate Classic makes a nice super bag glove, but I HATE their training/sparring glove - talk about a pillow glove, padding feels like a squishy marshmallow.
Top Ten makes a nice sparring glove - the most compact 16oz you'll ever find, so you get the dual benefit of protecting your sparring partner & still having a tight defense because of smaller gloves (sparring with gloves too big can ruin your defense - makes it too easy).
I have a feeling that Title and Ringside modify the 3rd party gloves they sell.
Everyone loves Cletos, but the 2 pair I bought through Ringside had an extra seam on the palm that was very uncomfortable - thought the gloves were garbage (14s fit okay but weren't padded enough, 16s were way big on me).
Bought some Windy through Ringside in 06. Gave those gloves away after 2 workouts. The wrist strap started falling apart and they just felt like garbage, not a nice striking surface at all. Windy has a really good reputation in Thailand, so I wouldn't be surprised if the ones not sold through Ringside were a lot better.
I mentioned the Twins I bought through Title earlier - the first pair of 14s weren't from Title. Definitely a different feel.
I hate everlast high performance gloves so much, i'm considering a policy of not sparring anybody wearing them. Their pro line used to be good, though the padding started coming out of the glove on me in less than a couple months. I haven't tried their new, expensive line.
To recap, the best gloves in my rotation:
Grant Super Bag gloves (velcro)
IMF Tech Training gloves (velcro)
Top Ten Sparing gloves (velcro, from Totiro-usa.com)
Gloves that I've had good experiences with:
Ringside Ultimate Classic Super Bag gloves
Reyes 14s (just don't spar with 'em unless you want to be KOing your partners)
Twins 14s
My shopping list of stuff I want to try out:
Rajah
King (traditional and/or the new "air" design)
Winning
authentic Windy (not through ringside)
authentic Reyes (not through ringside)
Thai Smai
The new high-end everlast line (kinda)Last edited by Pork Chop; 01-29-2009, 01:02 PM.

ok i will enlighten you.
Porkchop this isnt a thai boxing forum.... no.
For your budget the perfect gloves for you are Ringside lace up imf tech gloves or Title Gel world training lace up. Lace up offers more wrist support then hook and loop. You can tie them yourself before you put them on if you have to.
Cleto reyes are made for hitting other people not bags. You WILL hurt your hand especially if you are over 140 lbs. Grant is a nice all around glove but be sure to get the Pro gloves not the ****ty campeon series, they are made in china and are a lower line of thier product.
Winning- the best equipment to bless boxing out of the biggest hole-in-the-wall company. There website is not professional at all (winning-usa.com) but alot of times like food the smaller buisness's offer the better product. As for you, you do not need winning right now, sure they are the best protection in the world but you will be fine with the 2 gloves i recomended. 3-4 months down the road if you start to become serious about boxing then you should consider a pair but as of now i dont think you really need them.
My motto is life is short, spend your money and enjoy ****. But i still dont think you need winning right now at this moment.
Hope that helps.
Edit- Sorry for my spelling, but i dont really care.

WTF is up with putting me on the spot?
Especially considering we recommended the same pair of gloves.
People constantly ask about gloves from Twins or Windy.
These are Thai gloves made in Thailand.
Last time I checked there are boxers out of Thailand; such as:
current WBA flyweight champ Denkaosan Kaovichit
current WBC straw weight (co?) champ Oleydong Sithsamerchai
Plus a few that were ATGs.
I box AND do muay thai.
Most muay thai folks go to boxing gyms to work on their hands.
I do the same jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts on the bag (and in sparring) as any other person on this forum does.
Did I mention anything about doing muay thai technique in this thread? NO
